Waiting for favorable winds in Cowes - Isle of Wight
Big ships approaching Southampton

After spending a couple days in Swanwick near Southampton, we have arrived at Isles of Wight. We have been riding some favorable - and rare - easterly winds, but now the ride is over: the usual westerly winds have returned in full force and the next couple days we have to wait here before we can push on towards Lands End and turn north towards Dublin.

We took a short stop over in Swanwick - not because there is much to see there - but some miles up the river Hamble is the address of the birth place of our boat Ponyo. Ponyo was built in Swanwick in 1988 and we thought it would be fun to return her to her place of birth before moving on. We found the grounds, but the Moody factories have long since left - acquired by "Hanse" boats and now produced somewhere else.

Ponyo Birthplace Address

Now we are in Cowes Yacht Haven Marina. This is a wonderfull place: a cosy traditional seaside town, with a lot of pubs and ships chandlers (a shop with all things related to boats). We will stay here until Thursday, where we should be able to move on.

Venter på venligere vindretning i Cowes - Isles of Man
